Tom is a specialist oral surgeon in Gloucestershire and has been providing sedation for oral surgery patients for nearly 20 years. His practice is in both secondary care OMFS and primary dental care practice environments.
He has a special interest in the management of anxious patients and teaching IV sedation.
He has organised multiple sedation-themed sedation events for NHSE and Cotswold Sedation Training
He is a SAAD Board member.

Speaker Bio​

Christina works as a general dentist in a women’s prison in South Gloucestershire. She is especially interested in the application of trauma informed dentistry and how to best care for patients who have suffered traumatic past life events which may make dentistry difficult for them

Christina is also the dental strategy clinical lead for Gloucestershire ICB and is passionate about representing primary care dentistry at an NHS leadership level and using her significant experience of working with socially excluded groups of people to improve oral health inequalities. She is also a trustee of the dental charity Den-Tech

Speaker Bio​

Dr David Johnson, widely known as 'Dave The Dentist', is a seasoned Dental Officer with over two decades of experience in treating adults and children with special care needs. He has a robust skill set tailored to managing special care patients, including the use of general anaesthesia, sedation, and cognitive behavioural therapy. In addition to his clinical practice, David is a nationally recognised lecturer on the application of acupuncture in dentistry, emphasizing its role in managing pain and anxiety. His scholarly contributions include several published articles in the fields of paediatric dentistry and dental acupuncture

Beyond his professional duties, David actively supports Bridge2Aid, a dental charity focused on training healthcare workers to provide sustainable dental care in developing countries. He serves as the chair of the British Dental Association (BDA) Welsh Council and has previously chaired the Welsh Committee for Community Dentistry. In his personal life, David has participated in expeditions to the Arctic Circle and the Kalahari Desert and also conceived the idea for the Twister Duvet Cover.
